Dr. McClelland has great knowledge on this material. However, her tests are extremely hard and all of the tests are comprehensive. The ACC was a complete joke. The only reason why I went was because it was part of our grade. Our TA wasn't that great either. I would definitely take another professor if I were you.

Often times these professors are reivewed by people who frankly came from weak academic backgrounds, and they give you a wrong impresion of what the course is truly like. BIO 311C with Dr. McClelland is quite possibly the easiest intro biology course you will get. The test covers the very BASIC concepts. Dr. McClelland goes over each anc every concept you need to know during lecture. The TA sessions are worthless but necessary to receive 10% of your grade. 1. Go to class 2. Read the book daily and keep up with material 3. You get an A ; simple If you came from a strong high school (academically) and studied pretty well, you will make an easy A. Don't let the other review fool you. Though, don't get overly confident and just not study. You need to read the book and learn the material, but you don't have to memorize it to such a high degree as to dispaly Ph.D-like knowledge on the subjects, something you would have to do if you took Bio 311C or 311D with, say, Palmer.

Dr. McClelland is a good lecturer, and keeps your interest throughout the class. She has this kind of cynical/dry sense of humor that is pretty entertaining. She's very knowledgeable about the topics, and is very up-to-date with UT research having to do with topics discussed in class, so anyone looking for research would be well off talking to her.

She really made the class fun and interesting. Was not difficult as tests are mainly based off of powerpoints, and the 2 multiple choice questions at the end of each test are pulled from a 10 question test bank she gives you before each test.
