Dr. Zhao is a nice guy and pretty good teacher; you get used to his accent after a while. If you study his presentations and listen to lectures, you should do okay. Grades are mainly from tests (multiple choice, short answer, matching) but you get bonus points for attending discussion. I didn't have a particularly hard time with the class, and I learned a lot, but I like bio. Sometimes Dr. Zhao will sing to you, which is pretty funny. Overall, I thought he was a good teacher.

I wouldn't suggest taking this class with him if science is not your thing. If you're taking it just to get a degree requirement out of the way, don't take him. He is slightly hard to understand, but you get used to him after awhile. However, his tests are hard, and he doesn't go over the stuff that well. It's all posted on the internet, but his tests are different from what he goes over (or doesn't go over) in class. Overall, don't take it from him.

This guy is great. He is a little hard to understand due to his accent, but he is a generous grader. He sometimes puts random extra points even when the class average is like a 80. He'll just add two points to everyones test. I would really suggest taking him.

Dr. Zhao's class is REALLY easy. His tests are sometimes tricky but he's fair. He means well, is a little hard to understand, but in the end is a good professor. If you do your reading and attend TA sessions, you will do well. He gives extra points for how many TA sessions you attend. If you have a really good TA or just read, you'll do well.

He is VERY hard to understand due to his accent. His tests are very difficult as well, and since there are so few grades there is no room for error. He posts his lecture on the internet before class, so you don't really have to go. The content of the class is pretty cool, but I wouldn't recommend taking Zhao if there was another choice. I hear Buskirk is a good professor.

Zhao is not as bad as people say he is. He has an accent but after a couple of classes you get used to it. His tests are through but test your knowledge of the material well. There are 3 tests and a cumlative final. His notes are also posted on the web, so you dont really have to go to class, but I would recommend you do. Other than that his not really boring he trys to keep you awake and sometimes even sings for you.

Zhao is hard to understand! He has a heavy accent, it takes a while to get use to. I took his bio 214 during the summer, and I found him to not as hard as the other bio professors. His powerpoint notes are posted online and are easy to follow. The class grades seem high because his past exams are very similar to the exams he'll give. The whole class basically shared answers during the exams. If you have access to a test bank, USE IT because everybody eles seem to be doing it, so don't count on a curve!

He is hard to understand, but the class is real laid back in nature. However, his tests are pretty hard, he likes to trick you. For example, there are 9 biomes total in the world. But he'll ask: How many biomes are there in the U.S.A.? Well, he never goes over biomes in the U.S.A. in class so you think 9 biomes when in fact there's 8. For the tests, watch for the little details. Science is my strongest subject (but I'm not majoring in it) and I'm struggling to make a "C" in the class. I don't know if I would take him.

Really nice guy, even sings and makes jokes during class, downside, 8am class. Tests are multiple choice and a short, very short easy essay like portion. If you go to discussions and make an average 70 on the quizzes, he'll give you 5 extra credit points to your FINAL GRADE. So, an A is an 85. Nice eh? No homework, discussions not mandantory, but I highly suggest it. English isn't so bad, you get used to it. Powerpoints are online, for the tests, just read the sections in the book that were mentioned on the powerpoints and you'll do fine.
