Student reviews of James Skipper

Review from a student who took BIO 211
Dr. Skipper is a horrible professor. WARNING: DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES! Most of his classes are early in the morning and TRUST ME, they will put you to sleep! His lectures are SO boring. He basically just reads out of his lecture packet and then tests you on that material. He moves fast and doesn't care to explain this well AT ALL. Again, i repeat: DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES!

Dr. Skipper is a GREAT professor. He seems very cut and dry in class, but he will work with you in office hours for days to help you understand the material. Attendance is good for an extra 2 points on your final grade. The quality of the material I learned and RETAINED from this class helped me pass all of my other biology classes with no problem. TAKE HIM!

unreasonable and BOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING. He could put someone loaded with coffee/caffeine in a casket. RUN FROM HIM

I thought this class was pretty fair and straightforward. The tests were picky multiple choice and some short answer but still not bad. Professor Skipper himself seems kinda dry, but I liked it. I would recommend taking this class.

Please do not take this man, he is very boring and will slowly bore you to death!

Dr. Skipper is great. :) He's got a great sense of humor and he definitely knows what he's talking about. He might seem like a difficult prof, but he'll tell you EXACTLY what he's looking for on the exams, and he's very helpful if you ask him questions.

I hated this class. It is completely unreasonable unless you have already taken more than one year of biology in high school, especially since it is supposed to be for non-science majors. The test questions come from random details in the notes often, so beware. My advice is to read the book before tests and especially understand the diagrams in the book because those helped me more on the tests than anything he lectured about.

I took Skipper three years ago now, and will be graduating with a BIO degree. If I had not had him, I probably would not have passed Genetics or Microbiology. He is that good. Yes, he is difficult, but an A is possible if you know how to study (and I only studied two days before each test). Everything you need to know for his class, he gives you in the course packet. Memorize it, it is NOT long, and keep it for later. If you are a BIO major and have trouble with this class, maybe you need to change your major.

TERRIBLE! He's boring. He's verry knowledgeable but he fails to clearly convey the material because he skips bits and pieces. He doesnt work from the book so reading really doesnt help much. DONT TAKE HIM you'll sleep through his class but that screws you because his test questions come from the lecture and homeworks.

avoid him like the plague....he makes the class unbearable! please, i beg you..run from him
