I didn't learn that much from his lectures. It was a waste of time. I guess he does not like to teach... should quit teaching. Tests are not that hard. Meomorize codes from old tests and follow the examples in his lecture notes. Also don't miss the class because sometimes he will tell you what he is gonna ask in the exam.

I really do not understand why so many students dislike Wagner but love Chase. I liked the fact that he offered notes, where Chase did not, and his tests were difficult but easier than Chase's. If you are a hot shot programmer take Chase and have fun. If not, and have a hard time with programming be sure to take Wagner.

Pick a prof and others lie about wagner. His class isn't bad. Then again I had prior programming knowledge, but not much. His tests are pretty easy to at least pass since he gives you prior exams to practice w/. 4 questions, and one of them is usually one from the prior tests. He has this bargain where if you make an A on the final, you make an A in the class even if you didn't do shit. programs aren't that hard. I got a 78 on the final equivalent to an A w/ a curve, but doesn't meet his baragin requirements. so he was tricky about his "bargain". take him instead of chase b/c chase actually knows what he's talking about.

He gave away tons of bonus for students who discovered errors in his notes on a first come first serve basis, which is good in nature but actually quite unfair. I have a heavy work load with other classes and couldn't spend alot of time reading his notes before lectures, so I end up getting nothing from those freebies he gave away. Some students got the equivalent of 2 HW assignment's worth of bonus, which jacked up the grading curve. I ended up just missed an A which I should have got if not all those free bonus points he gave away. I'd rather have he gave more fair bonus program assignments instead of those senseless "find an error" bonus freebies, which does nothing to reflect a student's programming skills at all.

Wagner is a very mixed case. On one hand, his lectures consist of him showing you what different programs do and explaining them, a sort of hands-on approach. If you're experienced at all in C, C++, or even Java the first half of the semester will bore you to death. While his lectures contain valuable material, the tone of his voice will seriously bore you to sleep. I came off 10 hours of sleep many times just to snooze through his class. Programming assignments once a week, with some bonus programs thrown in that aren't worth much. Tests are substantially difficult, require not only knowledge of the material but a level mathematical mind. Most of the class, including me, enjoyed his sense of humor, but a few girls thought he was a tad sexist. Nothing serious unless you're easily offended. Oh yeah, the guy hates people with special circumstances, don't come up to him asking for anything if you miss a program or have a trip coming up.

Wagner was the best professor I ever had. He laid the rules out very clearly from the start: Have sex with him in office housr and you're going to get an A or a B at worst. I put my body to use and earned my A. To this day I don't regret it other than the pregnancy, but it was nothing a rusty coathanger couldn't take care of. Oh.. he sucks dick too.

This is one of the worst classes I've taken at UT. Wagner is offensive, dry, and eye-crossingly boring. As one of the three or so chicks in a class of 75+, I found myself offended by his "jokes," and it takes a lot to offend me. The majority of his jokes are sexual in nature and surprisingly not funny. You'd figure the odds were in his favor since he throws out two or three each day, but not one got a laugh from the class. It's also a little disturbing to hear a 60+ year old professor joke about sex. His notes are little to no help, (no textbook - just notes he wrote himself) and his tests are a lot harder than the assignments. The graders/TA's are tough on your homeworks, and God forbid any of them speak English. Take this class at ACC or try to test out.

To be a professor...it takes alot more than just having a PhD...To me, Wagner is just a guy who happens to know C++. I really don't have any respect for him after my first and only visit to his office...He did nothing but telling you how stupid you are!!!

I've taken four semesters of coursework and Wagner was, by far, the most stubborn professor I've ever had and the worse ECE professor I've had the displeasure of taking. He was the only one that taught the course so I'd postpone it if you could. Wagner isn't too bad in lecture, it's really the same as any other programming class, but if you go to office hours you will be shocked at how he received tenure. Professor Chase, for example, has the same lecture style, but you go to his office hours...and he's immensely helpful. He's brilliant and fair and actually likes teaching undergraduates. Wagner doesn't. He's incredibly stubborn. You visit him in his office hours and you will receive absolutely no help. Several girls that I know were in tears at the end of talking to him. Any time you mention the word 'grade' he automatically assumes you are going to, what he calls, "point grubbing." Once he grades your assignment he will defend to the death the accuracy of his grading, regardless of how incorrect you may think it to be. there's also a huge grading discrepency between his grading criteria, and that of his TAs. He also seemingly lacks common sense you would assume a professor who has taught 30 years had. He tried to give an early final on a dead day. WTF was he thinking, did he really think he could get away with that? Honestly, Wagner isn't necessarily a bad professor, if it wasn't for his "I-don't-give-a-fuck psuedo-rebellious I-recently-got-out-of-a-midlife-crisis-ten-years-ago-but-I-want-it-back and I want it to be the 60s again" attitude. He tries to come off as funny but usually falls flat and tries to elevate himself closer to his students and most students didn't seem to respond too well. He probably thinks we're just geeky loser EEs, though, heaven forbid he admit a personal fault or something.

During his lectures I was so driven to the edge of boredom I was only able to survive by gnawing my left elbow off. Despite his extremely boring nature, he is a true asshole as well. Oftentimes he'd make some stupid sexist joke and no one would laugh so he'd try over and over until someone gave him a pity laugh. Numerous times during office hours he made what I would consider sexual comments towards me and almost openly implied that "putting my body to use" would help my grade. I am not the type of girl who gives a crap when a guy makes sexist jokes but being pressured to give sex for my grade was extremely degrading. I guess Wagner is just a pig. A pig that can't teach worth an oink. Also, get a wig or something cuz those warts on his bald head are just distracting.. They distracted me away from his lectures on how to fuck for A's. WANKER TIME! I took EE 322C with Wagner because I had no god-damned choice. He did not used any particular book for this course; he had his own notes; but his notes SUCKed. And his lectures was much WORSE. If you are not familiar with the topic which is going be lectured in class, don't bother trying to read his notes before class. Instead, you should go online and search for better notes from someone else. That was what I did. However, make sure you read his notes and memorize the example code in the notes before the tests. Also, study the old tests; he tended to used his old test questions and give questions familiar the examples in his notes. It is not hard to get an A in Wagner's class.
