Dr. Baldick is a good prof and helps his students, but As are pretty hard to come across - he gives as many Cs as As and Bs combined. The material in 351k is hard and the homeworks are harder, I don't know anyone who didn't benefit greatly from his office hours - the tests are of fair difficulty given the amterial, there isn't a giant gap between homeworks and tests like there are in some classes.

Very good teacher. Knows his material very well, keeps the classes interesting, and is effective at communicating. You will come out of his course having learned a lot. The only drawback is he's not very lenient on grades. It's difficult to make an A, but when you do, you've earned it.

The statistics on this site are fake. This was my conversation with Prof. Baldick who has an excellent personality: - me: Almost 50% of the class got lower than or equal B. - him: That's correct. - me: So you think these statistics are not correct? It mentions that 88% get A and A- in this class - him: Don't believe everything you read.

Dr. Baldick was the best professor I have come across at UT. He was smart and explained things clearly. His optimization class was well organized with slides are easy to follow. I would recommend to students to take any classes he offers.
