I have taken several courses from Dr. Santoso, including EE 368 (Renewable Energy), EE 394L (Power Systems Apparatus and Lab) and EE 394-9 (Power Quality). I can safely say he has been the best professor I have had since coming to grad school at UT. All of Dr. Santoso's lectures are well prepared, and he is incredibly knowledgeable about power systems. More importantly, he is one of the few professors I have had here who actually cares about how his students are doing. His courses are challenging but fair (don't let his speech on the first day of class scare you away). If you are willing to work hard and apply yourself, you will do well and learn a great deal.

Dr Santoso is a great teacher. His classes are difficult, but they are worthwhile. I work in the power industry and the books/concepts that I learned in EE368L and EE362Q are the most referenced things I use in my day to day job. Dr. Santoso provides all the material that you need to pass his class. He is always available for office hours to help you if you have run into a wall on some part of the homework or are having a hard time with a particular concept. The EE368L lab is fun and provides a better understanding of the physical concepts of generators and the power system.

Dr. Santoso is the reason I fell in love with studying electrical engineering, specifically power. I currently work as a Facility Electrical Engineer for Valero Energy Corporation at their refinery in Texas City, and I apply almost all of the concepts I learned in his classes in industry. I see the real life application of everything from 100MVA autotransformers down to Relays/breaker control circuits. I also use the short circuit current equation taught in EE362Q on a daily basis in order to analyze available fault current on various buses. Taking courses taught by Dr. Santoso will make you very competitive candidate for engineering positions in both the Utility and Oil & Gas industries. I am very grateful to have been taught by Dr. Santoso.
