Student reviews of William Grady

Review from a student who took EE 302 & EE369 & EE362L
Grady is the BEST! I try to take as many classes as I can with him. For EE302, be careful. There are many power questions on the exams because he is a power professor. I decided to go into PowerSystems because of Professor Grady. He truly cares about his students and does his best to help them understand. However, Professor Grady is a very busy prof. Sometimes, it's hard to get a hold of him or get a reply back from email. Also, in 369, it took awhile to get our weekly quizzes back. So we never knew how we were doing in the class. Overall, Grady is a great professor. He even organizes a weekend trip to an energy roundup event in Fredricksburg, which I highly recommend if you're into renewable sources. It's fun and also you get to see Fredricksburg! If you are one of the lucky ones and are able to get Grady as your professor, get to know him and dont be afraid to ask questions. He's more than happy to help and actually CARES about his students unlike other professors I've had at UT. Also, the field trips can help your grade. Sometimes, he gives you 'bonus points' for attending. All I have to say now is TAKE GRADY FOR ANYTHING!
Review from a student who took EE 411
411 is a pretty tough course but Grady really wants you to learn it. I hate circuits, but Grady actually made the class half interesting. Attendance is occasionally taken for 5% of the grade, and weekly discussion quizzes make up 35% of the grade. The great thing about the quizzes is that the TA does homework problems for you, then gives you the quiz, making the quizzes really easy to get a 100 on. There is one midterm which is really easy worth 30% and the final is worth 30%. Watch out for the final, Grady is a power engineer and most of the final consists of questions having to do with power. If you know power and how it applies to the rest of the course, you will be fine. He also curves the test averages to an 80, so that helps. Great teacher, strongly recommended.

Grady is awesome! I'll take any class he is teaching.
Review from a student who took EE 411 and EE 362L
Dr. Grady is one of the most personable profs I've met at UT. His classes are informative and he puts a great effort in making sure that you learn the material. For EE 411, the homeworks can get a little tedious, but if you make sure you attend the lectures and discussion sections, you'll have no problems. If you can, do take EE 362L, even if you're only vaguely interested in power circuits. If you'd like to be on the more practical side of electronics and build things, you'll have a most rewarding experience. Also, in this class you'll be able to interact more often with Dr. Grady as he tries to be in the power lab as much as possible to help students. Overall, in my opinion, Dr. Grady's one of the best professors at UT. Take him.
Review from a student who took ee 368
If you participate in class and do all the homework then you will make an A even with a 70% in finals. He will give you your mid term test to finish it at home in case he thinks it was too long. Also, if he thinks the problems were hard then he'll give you hints, give the paper back and ask you to resubmit it the next week. His only concern is that you learn the material. An excellent but very busy prof.
