Student reviews of George Cardwell

Review from a student who took EE 438
Lots of examples and explanations fill the time in Cardwell's class. You learn a lot, and most of the examples end up being nearly copied onto the test. He has the voice of Mr. Mackey, but he is a good lecturer. The homework is very similar to the tests. His tests are almost an all-or-nothing ordeal: one small mistake causes a shift in answer and suddenly half of your credit is lost on the problem. There are only 4-6 problems on the test. Make sure to hit on his tests: a goof on the homework can be repaired, a goof on the test can spell doom. I goofed on the first test, and I had to string two 99s on exams in order to get an A. Take him and be prepared to study for those tests; you do learn a lot.
Review from a student who took EE 313
Cardwell is a hilarious, excellent professor. His lectures are fairly awesome, and all his notes are very well written out on Blackboard. Several other EE 313 students will use his notes for their classes, since Cardwell is probably the best EE 313 professor. The homeworks are fairly short and will take an hour tops. You will usually get a perfect score on them, and the solutions can be found online. The two mid-terms you will take a very straight-forward and very easy comparably. Make sure you ace these and the homeworks, then you only need like a 65 on the final (equal weight as the mid-terms) to get an A. Even if you don't, he seems to curve a lot and gives out a lot of As. His voice is very boring and you may fall asleep, however he is very funny.

He is knowledgeable and understanding, not to mention a very funny guy. His class is pretty easy because he spends just enough time on the hard parts so you?ll have a decent grasp of the material. His homework is great practice for his tests.
Review from a student who took EE 438
Cardwell is the professor to take 438 from. He is very fair in grading and his lecture style is pretty straight forward with lots of practical examples. His tests are not too difficult if you attend lecture, and usually they are very similar to homework problems. Cardwell is also extremely knowledgable regarding amplifiers and the problems associated with various schematics. Not once was I ever under the impression that he was not 100% on top of the lecture material. In addition, he is quite humorous and makes electronic circuits actually interesting. In short, if you take Cardwell you cannot go wrong - he is one of the best professors I have had, and I am not alone in feeling that way.
Review from a student who took EE 438
Take Cardwell for whatever class he is teaching, any and every single one of them. I wish I had done that. I took EE 438, and it was great. So take 325, 438, 313, 411, even 302 if he teaches that. Of course, if you are interested, like I am, you should take EE 383L with him, but that might just be too hard.
