Review from a student who took CH 310M
He is a jerk of a teacher, but his class is easy. Don't count on him for any help, his TAs (at least when I took it) were absolutely awesome and I don't know what I would have done without them. But, does he teach you everything you need to know? I guess I'll see in orgo 2.

His lectures aren't spectacular, compared to some things I've heard about other organic profs, but they are good - he does actually explain things pretty well, and if you pay attention in class, you'll get a solid understanding of organic chem. His tests are relatively easy, I'd say, and you can get by rather well with only a mediocre understanding and a lot of memorizing. The graded homeworks are the only thing that's difficult, but if you study before they're due, they shouldn't be too bad. (In my opinion, this is how it should be done - tough homework, fair tests). He's got a great attitude, and, bonus: he gives out candy in class.

Look, if you have to take the second org. chem. , do NOT take him for the first. The first test he gave us was exactly the same as what he posted from the last year, with the answer key. I memorized it and made an A. During the middle of our semester, he just stopped going to class and the TA tried to lecture, but since he spoke about 10 words of English (like, "you see how goes??"), it did not work out. After that, the tests were all mult choice, with questions like "Which is not an element... a)car b)iron c)neon d)carbon" Turns out, he was angry b/c he did not get tenure, so he just stopped caring. I had to drop 610B, b/c i knew NO basics.
