Review from a student who took BIO 211/212
I took her linked course for Bio 211 and Bio 212. Overall, she was alright. Her tests are hard. No matter how hard I studied...I still got a C...and I was an A student back in high school! Read and memorize EVERYTHING in her course notebooks. They are nice and very thorough, but she excepts you to know every detail. Her tests are also long and and consists of mainly essay and multiple choice. But beware, the multiple choice questions are tricky!

She is a good lecturer. Her lectures are not boring, and class is over before you know it. However, she is really mean. She mocks you whenever you ask her a question in class. She always complains people don't visit her in office hours, but that is b/c people are afraid of her. Her exams are very hard. Even though you study really hard, attend all lectures, and disscussion, it is almost impossible to get an A in the class. She takes off for every little thing wrong on her exams. She is very picky. The class averages are usually around 50-60, she gives a curve though. The good thing about this class is that the Final Is Optional! Try to do your best on the exams, so that you don't take it.

Her tests are LONG and she grades HARD

For a 2-hr class, this one requires a lot of work. She doesn't like the required micro book, so all the course material she tests over is presented during lectures (which are complicated and pretty monotonous). If you don't attend every single lecture, you miss material and won't be able to do the homework questions (she assigns lots which are important as they are the basis of her exams). Exams are free response and are pretty difficult; partial credit is given sparingly. She also knows most people in these large classes by name and WILL hold it against you, if only personally, if you miss class or are always late. On the other hand, she seems to respect those who work really hard... overall, class is tough but if you work hard you'll get something out of it. btw, she goes by Dr. Weiss, not Kuziel, in person.

Worst teacher EVER!!! If you value your GPA you will AVOID this lady at all cost!! You can study for 3 weeks on a test and still fail. I wish I would have gone with a different teacher. My advisor told me at the end of the semester that this is the hardest bio teacher on the campus. If you get stuck with Dr. Weiss just pray every day, that's all I can say.

An excellent professor and by far one of the best classes that I have taken at UT! Her lectures are interesting and through. There is absolutely no need to take notes since all the notes are in the course packet. This does not mean that you should not come to lectures, since light quizzes are given occasionally (5% of final grade). There are three tests with the lowest grade dropped (20% each of final grade). I actually enjoyed Dr. Weiss' tests since they were challenging. Her tests take the entire fifty minutes and are a whole body workout due to the blazing pace that you will be answering the short answer (be brief and avoid unnecessary information). There are also multiple choice and matching bringing the question total to ~30. The final is substantially easier (40% of final grade). The TA session (group quizzes) makes up the remaining 15% of your final grade. Dr. Weiss' class is an easy A and you learn quite a bit in her class. She is very approachable, enthusiastic, and learns everybody's name. I would highly recommend Dr. Weiss and any class that she teaches.

She's TOUGH! She's a really nice person, but she expects A LOT. Her tests are KILLERS, and because they are, have a huge curve.
Review from a student who took BIO 360K
Dr. Weiss is an excellent lecturer...she went by the course text, and was able to clarify everything that didnt at first seem obvious, not to mention, she has to be one of the the nicest ladies on campus...make sure to take a candy on your way out of her office. she gets four out of four stars****
Review from a student who took Bio 212
If you are not interested in biology, if you are just a pre-med/pharm/vet/dent kid trying to get a "not so hard" prof that will help your GPA then DO NOT take Dr. Weiss. But if you really want to learn something and want to do good in Bio 325 then Dr. Weiss is your best choice. Her classnotes cover almost all the concepts that will be on the exam so study them. Also go to class, she isn't one of those prof that you can afford to miss classes of. Her lecture stye is pretty straight and forward, and if you go to her office hours that will really help you in the long run. Get to know her, she is a cool prof. Now with that said, she is HARD. But if you really want to learn your material this is the prof to choose. Her test are ususally short questions, if you know the concepts of the lecture you should do fine. Doing the HW in her class also helps if you want to get a "A".
