EVIL LADY!!!she invites you to her office hours, yet when you go she yells at you about how stupid you are. Her exams are extremely difficult and if you don't answer word for word from the course packet you fail!DONT TAKE HER!!! im serious...its horrible unless you are willing to spending 23 out of 24 hrs a day studying!

Field is well organised and it's evident she wants you to learn the materials but there are quite a few things that need to change in the class. The $80 course packet is a little absurd, as it's about 3-4 inches thick! However, the material is worth the money if you plan to get a passing grade in the course. She teaches to the notes, which is good because the book is worthless (that is, don't waste your cash) but bad because you have to lug it to class everyday. She also treats the class as if it's high school or junior high. The material is relevant but I could care less about the creepy stories of her past or her daughter at Rice (she likes to rub that on you). She abhors talking or not paying attention in class and in so doing forgets that she doesn't have a captive audience, but rather her bosses: we as students pay her salary and it seems like she forgets that. She grades fairly (the TA does really) but it's obvious when you get your exam back, the part she graded (the page is red!) as she hates to see anything not reguritated from her notes (your answer might be correct, you'd just need to talk to her about it, which is annoying and feels like grade-grubbing). She also dislikes too many questions in class and will not hesitate to embarrass you for no particulary good reason, which gets a lot of people mad.

this professor is an old hag that tells stories of her deranged and demented past...like when she pooped in an empty margarine tub and accidently used it on her morning toast. anyway, take this class if you must, but bring some caffeine pills or a coke, or some coke, anything to keep you awake. she also is on some power trip...she likes embarassing people so watch out. she rips you off with her course packet...she thinks this is middle school!

Field is a great lecturer, she is very organized and knows her material. Her coursepacket is $60 or $70 but worth it because everything is outlined for you in it for the exams. Her exams are challenging but if you know the handouts in the coursepacket you should be fine. If you are satisfied with your avg grade of the first 3 exams you don't have to take the final which is comprehensive. Oh! She also gives assignments out for bonus points on the exams. She really wants you to know the material.
