Student reviews of Robert Eldridge

Review from a student who took CHE 354, CHE 363
Straight shooter professor. The lecture goes really fast and you just need to stop him from going way too fast. Test is challenging and he's kind of cool guy.

If you are trying to make an A then Avoid him!!!! This guy is sort of a nice guy in class and his lectures are good, but when it comes down to grades he SUCKS! I took him summer 06. I was about 25 points above average on the first two midterms and 36 points above average on the final, and guess what? I ended up with a B. His excuse was that I did not performed good enough for the A. So try to avoid him at all cost, but if you have to take him know that there is almost no curve. His grading scale was A >90, B >75, C >65

If you're stuck with Eldridge, you're basically screwed into getting a C. Period. However, you'll be so friggin happy you passed the class at all that you won't even care.
Review from a student who took CHE 369
This review is for OPS II or separations. He is very difficult and makes sure that you know nothing when it comes down to the test. If you are just an average ChemE student then prepare yourself for this class by staying on top of this. The other professor that teaches this class is Johnston and he is even worse. I have heard that Maynard is a good teacher, but sometimes doesn't know what she is talking about when lecturing. Eldridge is a good lecturer, but just makes it difficult when you take the test. I really believe this his goal is to make the tests as difficult as possible so you leave the test knowing that you know nothing. 3 exams and a required final. A positive is that he teaches you ASPEN and will help in a number of ways when taking plant design. I hate to say it, but the chemE dept at UT is about weeding out students in every course even if you have gotten through 317 and transport. I felt like I was being weeded out during my plant design course as as senior. Find a way to stick with this class and study as much as you can. Devote your time to this class or it might be difficult. Good luck.
