Review from a student who took CHE 317/353
He is a difficult teacher and does not communicate things very well. I would avoid him at all costs. He has a high number of drops when he teaches. At one point in the semester there was a record of 35 student drops. He teaches his class to the most intelligent students in the class and curves based on their scores. If you are below the average for anything then expect to get a C. You will either hate him or love him, but a majority of past students have left with hate. He knows his material and is considered a good lecturer and I can agree to that. However, his class is stressful, aggressive, and excessive in every way possible. If you have to take him then stay on top of it and just keep up with it. Expect to be quizzed on everything...he loves giving pop quizzes any chance he is given. He once gave a quiz the day after an exam and cited that we should have gone home and reworked the problems. If you like this kind of learning environment then don't think twice about taking him. Otherwise sign up for someone else and hope you don't get stuck with him for any other class.

Dr. Edison was wonderful. He followed the book really well, and made lecture very easy to understand. He writes on the chalk board, which I loved because he very patiently showed the information to the class. I thought he was very funny in class and would really challenge you in the homeworks. Most of it was do-able, but he would throw in 1 or 2 problems that required a lot of hard work. I thought it was the perfect pace. Tests were 3 hours long, but that is because he gave you plenty of time to finish the problems. I loved this class, and it made me really love chemical engineering.
