Student reviews of David Vandenbout
Review from a student who took CH 301 and Ch302
He's really nice and will take the time of day to listen to you if you have any problems. He's a great teacher and goes slow for those people who don't understand right away and his tests were not that bad. Even though the class averages on the tests were low he ends up curving at the end of the year. He's so enthusiastic about chemistry and by far one of my favorite teachers this year!

Dr. Vandenbout is an enthousiastic and thorough lecturer. He makes it a point to pace the course so that students can follow him, and encourages asking questions. The course has homework assignments due about once every week and a half. We had 3 tests and a final, with the grades from the top two tests counting. At the end of the year he issued 1 set of bonus problems for each of the tests, allowing us to improve our scores (they also make a really great review for the final even if you don't need the points). If you go to lectures and do your homework, this should be an easy A.

The exams are tough and the lectures can be difficult when he tag-teams with Labrake but once I started to go to office hours my exam grades improved. He is very approachable when it comes to office hours and really tries to reinforce the information he gave during class.
