Review from a student who took CH353M
As shocking as it sounds, I actually enjoyed pchem class with Dr. Makarov. After hearing horror stories about pchem class, I was expecting the worst. However, after taking pchem with Dr. Makarov, he turned out to be a better lecuturer than I expected. He is very organized and posts detailed lecutre notes on the course website. He assigns homeworks every other week and he drops the lowest hwk grade and the lowest exam grade. All of his exams are open book, including the final. Homeworks are challenging, but you can do well on them if you get help from classmates, the TA, or the professor. The first exam was probably the hardest for most people, but the rest of the exams should be ok. This is a hard class, but making an A is totally possible.
