he's one of the best professors i've had. if you put in the time you'll get an A. even for an upper division class, concepts were easy to grasp. if you go to office hours he'll notice.

Good teacher to have for government. Workload was a little high, but this was probably I cos I took the congressional elections gov 312 when they actually had elections. we had two reaction papers, 3 real campaign papers, 3 tests, and some pop quizzes thrown in. Good teacher though, and fair grader. Lecture notes are important to pass the tests ... get them from someone if you miss class.

The workload was easy! I never did any of the reading (except when you are student of the day) and I actually wanted to go to this class to hear S.T. lecture. He is very interesting and funny. The tests aren't bad at all, the essays were a breeze to write (1 page only), and from what I hear GOV classes here suck, but this one was a great one to go to. If you can get him, DO IT! P.S. He even admits he is an easy A

He is a great professor--the only bad thing may be that he sometimes forgets to mention certain aspects/ideas/discussions that you need to include in papers and then takes off accordingly. however, the test curves make up for any of these lost points. the lectures are always entertaining.

A great professor. The workload for this course is a bit excessive - several pop quizzes, a handful of short papers assigned during the "special topic days", and two reflection papers that require some outside research. Other than that, this is a great class. He's a witty guy who does a good job at making lectures interesting and worthwile. The reading assignments are necessary to do well on the pop quizzes, but if you make it to all the lectures and pay attention you can still do well on his midterms without doing all (or any) of the readings. If you're looking for a painless way to fulfill half of the government requirement, take 310 from this guy.

Theriault is a really cool guy. Right now government is my favorite class. He gives a lot of random pop quizzes over the readings, but if you show up you at least get a 50. He presents government through a really interesting view point and you learn a lot about marginalized groups. He's really funny, too. I like him, and would recommend taking his class. By the way, he is always telling us "remember, Theriault is an easy A."

He's a great professor. Grading is fair, the reading load is a little high but pretty normal/light for a government class and the readings are interesting. Makes class relevant to students, and he has a great personality. Take him if you can, he'll open your eyes.

Super engaging lectures, especially if government is of any interest to you. Attend the lectures and do the readings and you'll be fine. I'd definitely recommend meeting with Professor Theriault in office hours at least once during the course just to get to know him. By far one of my favorite professors I've had at UT.
