Review from a student who took GOV 330K
Buchanan is an above average professor and very knowledgeable. His lectures are alright. I did not like the fact that he had only essay exams that were graded by the TA.

I'm not sure if the course number I entered is right, but the important fact is that Dr. Buchanan is a really smart man and grades MORE than fairly. His class is interesting, and it really challenges you to think for yourself. A lot of times you get into lower division classes where freshmen feel compelled to express their opinions, but this class really doesn't have room for that kind of stuff. You really need to know your material if you want to say anything.

What a great, knowlegable professor. Buchanan first knows the material, and second makes his lectures so that it is incredibly easy to take notes. If you take Buchanan, go to class! (the tests are mostly all from lecture). In addition to knowing the subject matter, Buchanan peppers his lectures with humor and anecdotes, so they are never boring. Great professor, I highly recommend.

Professor Buchanan is a really interesting man...his lectures are hardly ever boring...i'm not much of a government person, especially taking govt. here at UT is a pain..but Buchanan makes it an interesting class, i actually stayed awake in all his lectures. attendance is mandatory, but you get 3 free ones...no homeworks, exams are about 25-30 multiple choice (from lectures, readings, and current events), and the second half of the exam are about 10-15 short answer ID questions (from lectures, readings, and current events)...it's not hard if you keep up, but i didnt keep up with current events, so that really screwed me over...but everything else is pretty simple. he's a very understanding man, but I dont think he offers extra credit, he'll just help you to pass the next exam...
