I don't know who else could make Statistics so much fun! Dr. Spivey is AWESOME! There is a ton of time consuming homework, but he rewards persistence every test with much easier questions! If you need to take this class, TAKE SPIVEY! You won't be sorry!

Dr. Spivey is a great professor. He is very passionate about teaching and even though the course material is not all that exciting he trys to make it as exciting as possible by sharing personal experiences. The course workload is is excessive but it is not overwhelming; this one class is more like two classes.Even though the homework is not worth many points it is a good idea to do it and turn it in, the points do add up and the prob.'s on the test are similar to the homework. The tests are to the point, there is no guessing, you either know it or you don't. Reading is very important for the tests!!The course itself is difficult but Dr. Spivey made it seem easy.

Workload is very high. The statistics are not difficult, but the majority of the work comes from the lab, which is really like another separate class. It will take a lot of your time unless you are very quick. Tests are fair. Usually about 3 discussion questions per exam and the rest is either T/F or multiple choice. One major shortcoming of the professor is the stories he tells in class. He spends so much time going off on tangents that it takes away from the time to cover the material. I'd estimate that 1/4 to 1/3 of the class can be taken up by storytelling. This isn't fair to the students and takes away from lecture quality.

Dr. Spivey is great. He's always got stories and funny things to say throughout lecture, and he's so energetic that you have to pay attention. His assignments are fair and the tests aren't made to fool you. And even if you don't do well on tests, you can use your final to replace all of them. Definately take him if you can.
