Since this is a history class, there is a moderately heavy workload. You have to read 3-4 books of about 100 pages each. Some are more interesting, some are painful. His lectures are ok, write down everything he says because you'll need it to formulate an arguement for the essay exams. A week before the exams, he'll give you 6 questions. On test day, he'll literally roll a dice and choose 3. Of those 3, you write about one, for 85% of the exam grade. The other 15% are 3 definition terms. Don't worry if you do bad on a test, the final is optional and if you take it, he will drop your lowest score. I ended up taking it and you just had to write one huge fullblown essay in 3 hours (mine was 9 pages). The class is curved so that a 88+ is an A, 77-87.9 is a B so that helped a lot, but he really doesn't give that many A's- my TA said he has a quota of 15%.

Weird guy...but nice...really into history. Easy B, hard A...if you go to lectures OR read alllll of the reading...and there's alot, you'll do great. But, if you're not good at essays, don't take this class! only grades are 3 (including final) exams: 1 essay question (usually 3-4 pgs in bluebk) and 5 short answer I.D.'s. Final is an essay too. But, if you can do essay exams decently, take it! (pretty interesting too)
