He assigns a few novels to read, which are irritating and boring, but at least they aren't too long. His lectures seem a little disorganized at first, but I found that typing my notes helped me make sense of it all and I could get almost every word he said (I later even sold some for some nice cash). I put in almost no work other than going to class and barely looking over my notes. I don't think I even proof read any of my papers and I got a B easily.

His lectures are hard to follow, which makes it all the worse to take notes. It's not terribly boring, he does make jokes and tries to keep it interesting. Grading: Midterm, final, and 2 papers. You're supposed to read about 6 books, but your really only need to read the 2 for the book review. Tests: he tells you what the essays are ahead of time, from which he'll choose some for the test, and you'll pick the topic of your choice to write about. Just get together with a small group and come up with an outline for the essays beforehand, and you're fine. Just don't try to do it the night before because it's not possible. Overall, it's pretty decent. Course load is minimal, and the grading is up to the TA. If you're looking just to get the credit for the class with not too much effort, this is it. If you're looking to learn about history, I wouldn't recommend him.

Consequently, he will neglect many facts and events that I felt should have been mentioned. His textbook isn't very helpful. You can find all of the information you need for his tests somewhere online. He assigns several smaller books, many of which are boring, but you only have to read two for required book reviews. My suggestion is to give both positive comments. I tried to argue that one book (for which he is credited for helping to write) did not present any facts that you couldn't find in any other textbook, and I got a C for the paper. No worries. If you pay attention during lectures, and attend and participate in EVERY discussion section, you should have no problems getting an A.

He is obviously passionate about History. I liked the class, but got fustrated when he would speak very fast and mumble, and skip around from subjet to subject. Not a bad class.

His lectures can be confusing at times, I had to take a laptop to take notes so that I could keep up with what he was saying. If you attend lectures, go to TA sessions, and read the books that assignments are based on you should make a B or an A.

Took Kamil (Camel) during a summer session. He had no textbook assigned, but we did have to read 2 books that went by fast. Lectures are unorganized and he goes off on tangents so its hard to follow. tests are setup where he gives you 6 prompts a week before, then picks one or two for you to write about, although theres always one prompt thats very general and encompasses the thing he talked about most, which is the one he makes you write about. grading is all up to the ta's. during a regular session he may have you do some more work, but summer wise it was just the two books to read and the test. you kinda have to go to class to understand his theories so you can write about them, but esp go to the last couple days before an exam,for instance on one test he gave us everything we needed to write about the day before an exam.

Ugh... Seriously could not STAND this professor. I got a B+ in his class and I am still here to tell you to RUN. The books assigned are horribly boring, his lectures have NO discernible structure, he mumbles so that you can't understand him even if you want to, and he is incredibly rude. At one point he even called the entire class "stupid and lazy". W-O-W. Avoid.
