she probably hated me from the very start, and in the end, she didnt cut me any slack, really. overall, she was fair, i deserved my grade, but her lectures bored me .... just be sure to go to her office hours. that'll earn you major brownie points.

Don't take this class if you are not good at writing in class essays. You are required to write three essays for EACH test. The grading really depends on which TA you have. I have heard that there are easy TA's, but I was stuck with the hard one. There are five tests total, not including the final exam. This class can be a GPA killer if you get stuck with the wrong TA! Let me just tell you, it doesn't matter if she is the best teacher in the world, if you get stuck with the wrong TA, your screwed.

Professor Heinzelman is a spectacular teacher! She actually wants you to learn how to write papers, and instead of giving you a C on every paper you turn in without explaining what you did wrong, she tells you what you're doing wrong and actually allows you to revise your papers before you turn them in for a grade! Her lectures are amazing, and she really picks the cream of the crop when it comes to books! Take this class! You'll love her!

This class was awesome. An 80% = A and 70% = B. I am debated whether I should take this class at ACC, but I am so glad I took it here. The exams were short answer and background info. Sue is very funny and picked a pretty good reading materials. Take this class!!!!!!!!
Review from a student who took E 314L
I love this class! The discussions are so interesting and fun, and the books are great! She reads papers very closely and grades critically, but overall, a very fair grader. I understand completely any points she took off. she told us that she wants us all to do well, she doesn't want anyone to do badly, just really improve our writing. Lots of reading and writing, but if you love English, you will love her class. (hint* office hours!)

The grade really depends on the TA. Heinzelman is a very interesting teacher, and she has a great accent. There are no papers, instead you take 5 tests (you can drop the lowest grade). Her tests consist of 10 factual/historical questions, part 2 analyze phrases and quotes from books, part 3 is a short essay. One final worth 20% of the class. She tries her best to keep the class interesting, and is nice enough to reschedule our final, for an earlier date. In general great teacher, good TAs, and good class.

I heart Professor Heinzelman!

Grades are given by TAs for this class as a matter of fact. But Prof. Heinzelman is really great indeed! She has very charming personality and her lectures are just attractive! No doubt her class has been one of my favorites among all in UT.

Prof. Heinzelman is just so darn cool. The class was extremely entertaining if you like to think. She makes you really analyze the literature you read and then apply it to just about anything. She is thoughly knowledgable on the subject. Take her class!!
