Last semester he was totally awesome and I really liked him. This semester has been a totally different side of him. He definately plays favorites. It's good if your one of them... but not so good if he doesn't like you. He's very inaccessable out of class and I find him completely unapproachable by students who have concerns. I feel like I am penalized for expressing opinions that aren't the same as his. He has caused me so much stress and anger. The class is good, the material is interesting, and his lectures are good-- he definately knows his stuff-- but my opinion of him as a person and as a professor interested in the thoughts and progress of his students is very low.

Prof. Bertelsen really knows his stuff. His lectures are informative, entertaining and knowledgable. I have taken his Classics and Romantics class and found him to be a very good Professor. So far his senior seminar on Jane Austen is very good. He's got a great personality and is willing to let students lead discussions. He is willing to help students out with papers as well. He gets an A+ in my book. Seriously one of the best English Professors here at UT.
