totally do not recommend this professor unless you are willing to teach yourself, or if you're familiar with physics. lectures are soooo disorganized and don't make sense half of the time. attendance is 15%? homework every week.

I would try not to take Horton. He likes to use CPS, and he does about 4 problems every single day. He mostly uses those for attendance. Even so, less than half the class showed up. His lectures are quite dull, and he likes to mumble to himself a lot. He's really absent minded and sometimess can't do simple math!!! His exams aren't too bad; if you study your homework really well you should do fine. He grades on a bell curve like most physics profs. The TAs are usually pretty useless as well...their English skills aren't the greatest. Bottom line, you're going to end up teaching yourself.

Pretty much with the consensus about how Horton is practically senile. The lectures were useless, but some people showed up because of the CPS attendance. The tests aren't too bad if you study the homework well, which is assigned each week. From this, you can pretty much guess that it's going to be time with the TA and self teaching that will get you through this. Something you should also watch for is the scaled score. People get their letter grades based on their scale to the class average. Therefore, if everyone gets 90s on everything they submit, theoretically everyone gets a C. It's probably the same for a few other Physics classes as well. That being said, this is the first class I've taken where a 100 on a test was a B. Where a 90 on the final did nothing to help my average. Needless to say, if the class does well as a whole, everyone is essentially screwed. Just a bit of a warning.
