Review from a student who took EE 379K
Professor Bard is a very interesting guy. I took his lab for Network Engineering and definitely learned a whole lot, the only downside was it was on Friday from 2 to 6. There are 2 tests (which are only worth 10%) and one paper that is worth 20% that will pretty much make up your grade. You also do a group project, but everyone pretty much gets credit for that. Compared to some other classes you could for the Telecomm tech area, this is definitely the one to take, unless you like to study for huge tests.... Also, at the end of lab, whether or not your group is done with the weekly lab, he tells everyone to leave... which is nice when you're having problems, you don't have to come in after hours like so many other labs in EE....
Review from a student who took EE 313
Bill Bard's class can seem easier than it is. For hmwk, go to office hours if possible. For tests, study hard, and study the book. His tests are not easy, so practice lots of problems before hand. He has unschedueled quizzes, so you need to go to class. He's a good lecturer, considering the boring nature of the material.

Bard is a pretty good professor. This was his first time teaching 313 and I'd say he did a pretty good job. He lectures completely from the book though. I mean, every example, every topic is straight from it - which is a pretty good book I'd say. Lathi's book is probably the best textbook I've ever used, and it does a good treatment of the material without being too simplistic (thus leaving you uprepared for the homework problems) or too advanced (so you don't know what's important and what's not). Bard is a pretty cool guy on the whole. He had the most convenient office hours I'd ever seen, right before class on all lecture days. And he knows his stuff pretty well. His exams vary wildly in difficulty, and don't be surprised if you don't see homework problems on the exams at all. Plus he feeds you in his office hours - the pretzels are pretty good too. He's a good prof, I'd take him but you probably will be bored during lecture, I personally didn't take any notes since it's straight from the book.
