Review from a student who took ME 366J
She is the only women professor in department. I wonder how she survived in such a sexist environment in mechanical engineering department. She is a good teacher, but it seems that she is too much supervised. One downside is that she writes horrible letters of recommendation. For recos, you may want to approach other professors like Joseph Beaman. steeped in her own world. She would ask grad students to do hands on exercise in class. She promotes team-work and is actually great. I always offered her drinks in tailgate parties and she was so impressed that she gave me a straight A. No kidding !

Review from a student who took ME366J + ME397
ME366J: Carolyn is a good teacher. Should you do the assignments in time, you will get good grades. She could be a insular, but she has survived the most sexist environment in mechanical engineering department - for that, I give her an A. ME397 is a hard class. You must be working throughout the breaks - spring, winter or fall breaks. It is easy to get lazy over the breaks, and come back with a brain-freeze. I got a bad flu - no kidding - She was kind enough to give a second chance to complete a delayed assignment. She really likes to talk about 3D printing. She can't write good letters of recommendation. You must approach professors in remaining classes.
