Student reviews of Brian Trinque

Review from a student who took ECO 320L
Brian Trinque is the lousiest professor I have ever met at UT. Two words for him "Big words". His lectures are filled with it, even in his office hours that's all he likes to do. His grading is hard as hell. Even if you know the material and are not able to write it in the exam he wants you to, he will give you horrible grades. I regret taking his class. Oh wait there's more, if you are making a C in his course, and go to his office hours to speak with him. He will tell you, that you are a "C grade" student.

Avoid Trinque at all costs. He is the worst professor I have ever had in my life, which includes High School too. You don't learn anything, and he uses big words that no one comprehends. AVOID HIM, he loves giving C's.
Review from a student who took 320L & 327
I took Trinque for both my Macro 320L and Comparative Economic Systems. The guy was very fair in grading and made it as easy as possible to get an "A" so long as you took notes and studied them when you had to. There were no surprises on his exams (in fact I recall we had open book/note quizes and at least one exam). I can say that I actually learned a fair amount from his classes. I manage an institutional bond trading desk now and still draw on some of the concepts taught in his Macro theory class as a base reference when making a trading decision. The dude was always accessible too. The folks who are writing bad reviews on here are trippin.

The last test had an average of 19 he curved it by 51 points which is nice and all, but I think it shows how little learning is occurring in his class. His lectures aren't all that great a little bit about this and that sometimes it is useful sometimes it isn't. I wouldn't recommend him, but opinions vary.

By far the worst professor I have had at UT so far, he has no enthusiasm for the subject(Macroeconomics) and it shows in his lectures, which are severely lacking in content, to be fair it could just have just been an off semester for him, and granted his class isn't that difficult, although if you really want a good foundation in macroeconomic theory I would suggest taking another professor

Brian Trinque was the only UT professor I ever sought out to take twice, and I triple majored in Econ, Govt, and Arabic. Graduated in 2001 with an Econ degree and I remember more about economics from him than I ever remembered from the any other econ classes then or since.

Professor Trinque is a brilliant man. He will provide you with valuable knowledge if you put in the work. Yes, the grading is tough and the material challenging. But you will never get anywhere by being lazy and taking the easy route. What I have learned in Money and Banking is incredibly valuable and I know it will serve me well if I enter the world of Finance. If you are strong, intelligent and ambitious, Dr. Trinque is the perfect professor to study under in order to advance your understanding and credentials.

z8jGrM Wow, incredible blog structure! How lengthy have you been running a blog for? you made blogging glance easy. The full glance of your site is great, let alone the content!
Review from a student who took ECO 320L
Awful, disjointed lectures that go on tangents that detract from the lesson. The ground he doesn't cover in class is still on the exam, phrased in a way that makes using other professor's notes useless, so he's really the only person to talk to in regards to exam prep. And God forbid you ask about your grades; other reviews include anecdotes about how if a student who got a C on an exam were to ask Professor Trinque about said grade, that he'd respond with "it's because you're a C student." That is very much the case and is an even more condescending experience in person. Glad to be done with this class, and bless you if you end up picking him as a professor.
