Rabenberg is a hard professor, but he deserves some credit too. His homework takes forever, and a lot of the materials on the homework are no where to be found in the books or lecture. You?ll have to do some research to do them. His quizzes are semi-difficult. Good thing he curves the grades. I found studying the old quizzes that he posts are really helpful because he reuses a lot of the same questions and test over the same concepts. Taking his class definitely made me learn a lot more materials than someone who didn?t take his class. So if you are the kind of person who?s in it for the learning, I would suggest taking Rabenberg. On the contrary, if you are in it for the grade, it is going to be hard work. I think historically Rabenberg only gives out 4 A?s for the class, so you really have to do well on all of the quizzes make an A. But it is definitely do-able. I was luckily enough to pull of the learning and the A, but I had a light schedule that semester. I definitely would not recommend taking him if you have a full load.

He is the hardest professor I have had in the ME dept. Avoid him if you can!! He goes very fast. I took him for the Materials II course-we had 6 tests plus a final. Every other week I was studying tons of material for a new test. The tests are called quizzes, but dont let that fool you. And he only gives you half the class time to finish. I have never had a horror story professor until this guy.

He's Tough. You do learn quite a bit, but at what cost? His homework takes forever. Not because it is incredibly long, just that it's impossible to find the material. He doesn't really teach much out of the book. So if you rely on the book to make up for missing his 8:00 AM class, you're in for a shock. I heard getting the other books on his book lists help quite a bit. Watch out for his notes as well. He post his notes on a the library server and blows through them in class at the speed of light. You obviously can't keep up but that's okay because they are posted right? Wrong. By themselves, the notes are basically worthless. They are overheads that he talks though. The only way to survive is to print out notes before hand and take notes on them in class as he talks. Otherwise you will have no source of information for his tests and homework. Not even the internet can save you. On a positive note. He does curve. I got an 'A', but barely, and it was by far my most time consuming class. Rabenberg is not easy, but if the only other choice is Ralls, then flip a coin... A least with Rabenburg you'll learn a lot.

Worst Professor I have ever had. He was a total jerk during lecture; he would never let anyone ask a question without making them feel stupid. Avoid his class at all costs!
