Review from a student who took ME 336
Dr. Kovar is definitely one of the most caring profs at UT. By that I mean, he really cares about how you do in school and life in general. He?s very approachable when he?s in his office, but Dr. Kovar is a busy man. It?s hard to find him other than his office hours. But he does do a very good job in being there for the office hours or telling you ahead of time if he?s not going to be in. He lectures covers a lot of material in a very short amount of time. Be sure to take good notes, because it might be on your test. The book will not help you much on homeworks, because it?s very vague. The tests are fairly difficult. One complain I have is that he doesn?t give enough homework (i.e. practice for tests), so it leaves you a bit lacking on the materials. I actually like Rabenberg style of learning, where you do so many problems, by the time you take the tests, you know what kind of questions he?s going to ask. Dr. Kovar is a very fair grader. You?ll get what you deserve. He looks into how hard you work for the class. So you can get a decent grade if you put in the effort, which I think it?s very important.

Dr. Kovar is a very good teacher. He grades fairly, the tests are based on the homework, and if you get some older tests then you pretty much have it made. He can be a bit unapproachable in his office and he despises email. Still a good choice though.
