SUCH a good professor. very understanding. it helps to have a professor be tenured because they tend to stop caring about how many a's and b's they give out. i was sick for a good part of the semester and he let me retake the tests on the honor system. very interesting and is very passionate about the journalism world. i recommend the class, even at 8 am.

Easy tests. Easy one-page writing assignments. Lots of mind-numbing reading. TAs do the grading. Classes are nearly always at 8 a.m. He seems to think he has to be real energetic and loud, so we'll pay attention. Doesn't really work. But it's an easy A.

Good speaker. He is actually a pretty well known journalist, and you can learn alot by being in his class. Tests are only 20 questions, and he himself said it was a blow off class. I enjoyed it.

This man embodies everything that is wrong with modern American academics today, and not necessarily because he's a froth-mouthed Marxist. He's pompous, arrogant, snide, sleazy, lazy, impatient, dogmatic, condescending, irrevocably close-minded, and an intellectual bully. Naturally, the class is an easy, easy 'A'. You barely even have to read or attend so long as you have a grasp on the man's politics. A likely test question: "What's wrong with the media today? a) global corporate hegemony, white men, capitalistic greed, institutionalized racism, and advertising; or b) all of the above." The only thing you have to worry about is 400 e-mails a week from kids abusing the listserv inexplicably asking for notes from classes they missed. It's unfortunate that intelligent, impressionable journalism students often have no recourse to taking Jensen's retarded circus of a class. I generally agree with his politics, but the man himself is such a cocksucker that it's more than an uphill battle to make him the first jerk you see every other day at eight in the morning.

His lectures are pretty good, just not sure if they're as good as they can be when you have to wake up at 8a.m. for them. Other than that, his tests are pretty easy and the essays are graded fairly easily as well but it is NOT a guaranteed A because his cut-off is at 93%, which screws up a LOT of students (I made a 92 in the class, therefore getting a B)

Loved this class, even though it was at 8AM which I hate. Course is about power and what the role of journalists should be-- confronting power. Also, critique of Western media, globalism. Lectures are presented in a stand up comedian format with power points and lists of three. He does not take attendance but has short one minute writing assignments nearly every class from which he bases class participation. No papers, presentations or group assignments. Only four easy exams, easy A as long as you attend class and scan the readings prior to the exam. Material includes Dahl, Pilger, P. Sainath, Kovach & Rosenstiel, of course, Jensen.
