his class is all lecture. as long as you dont miss any then you'll have all the information you need for the tests. He does, however, like to see quotes from the books that you read for the discussion section. the only hard part is remembering those for the tests.

Haney actually makes this class interesting. He is very knowledgeable and his lectures are entertaining. The tests are essay style, 3 topics and he picks one on the day of the test. As long as you study for them and attend lecture it is easy to make a good grade. The best thing about the class? No textbook, just supplemental readings that are not too bad, sometimes interesting.

Dr. Haney is an excellent lecturer, he's interesting and funny. I strongly recommend his class. You have to read about 2 or 3 books in the class, but they're interesting reads. Tests are essay, but he gives you promts ahead of time and then he randomly picks one the day of the test. Prompts are very detailed, which is good, because you can study all the material beforehand and be completely prepared the day of the test. The only downside is that a lot of information is encompassed in the essays, but if you know your stuff, it's a breeze. If you take well to his test format (which is very likely) then you'll make an A.
