I suggest those that are not so good at Calculus or are not Math Wiz..DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS POSTED BEFORE ME..take my word for it, cuz since i took their im kinda screwed over..This class IS NOT AN EASY A..Yes you can cheat or copy for the homework assignment cuz it will be a test grade. But what good is it if u dont actually learn..Quizes are pretty hard, and not straight forward. TESTS RESEMBLE BUT IS NOT IDENTICAL TO TEST. I want to warn future students who want to be in this class that if You Look through the Review YOU BETTER UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE CONCEPT AND WHY..He will change things around..To get an A again is difficult..do not slack off not matter how easy you think this guy is..or you will end up like me, Q dropping the course 8 days left..and having to repeat it cuz u don't want to get a C..(Find someone else to take 408C or just summer school it if ur a freshman)

he makes you work more than the people will tell you. had one assignment due a week. he's one of those few professors out there you'll really like. go to all classes. he'll remember if you did, and it will help your grade
Review from a student who took M427K/L
Dr. Friedman is an outstanding professor. His grading policies are very student-friendly, and he is very approachable. I took M427K/L with him over the summer and got more out of those classes than I have out of most (if not all) of my other math classes. I found his lectures to be very coherent and informative, though you really have to pay attention or it will go right over your head (it helps to read before class, and he tells you this up front). His tests are all multiple choice, and he gives practice tests beforehand that are almost identical to the tests themselves. Highly recommended for anyone, but especially those who are interested in learning math.

His tests are all multiple choice, really easy class, he gives u a sample test before all of his tests except for the last one. Just understand the sample and you will make an A in the class, have to turn in all homework.

Friedman isn't a particularly great professor, but it's really easy to get an A and you really don't have to go to class. He's a nice guy, and easy to talk to. Plus he'll help you out if you didn't do so great on the first test, but made up for it on everything else. You do get sample tests for the first two tests, and a cheat sheet for the last one. I wouldn't really recommend him if you actually need calculus, but if it's something you'll never use again, Friedman would be a nice choice.

Friedman is super nice. hes gotta be one of the nicest professors at UT. he is a peoples person and is very easy to talk to. Curves on his test are great. however, if you really want to learn calc for your major ( amazing, learn calc ) i would not suffest this teacher. He cannot teach for anything. his lectures are sooo bad the majority don;t understand him. i have to go to another teachers lecture to understand the material. This class is a joke. i have to teach myself from the calc book. However, wat he lacks in teaching he gives back in personility and grades. he wants class average to be a B, so if class average is a 65 he would give 15 point curves. this is a easy A class if you at least attemp to study from the book. good luck.

I loved his class. if you had a calculus course in high school, but never came around to taking the AP exam, this should be a fairly easy test. he gives a lot of extra credit. his tests are very similar to the practice test, though you should KNOW how to solve them, NOT MEMORIZE THE ANSWERS. my TA was not that great, but it didn't really matter cause i just turned in HW and left. there is no final. he has 4 tests, and the all the HWs count as a final. he tries to make jokes, which nobody really hears, for he tends to mumble a little. sit in front of the class because he has a very soft voice, and it will put you to sleep if seated in the back. he is a great professor if you already have a knowledge of the material. i did not really learn anything new, so that last comment may be a little biased. long story, short: TAKE HIM IF YOU ALREADY KNOW SOME CALCULUS AND YOU ARE LAZY.

Dr. Friedman is by far one of the smartest people that I have ever met. He is also a great teacher, yet if you do not pay attention to him you can easily get lost. He makes jokes during the class, yet only about 1/8 of the people actually laugh at them. The class consists of three tests, three quizzes, and homework. The quizzes are 2 problems and are averaged to be equivalent to a test. The homework is done this way as well. I had the TA from hell. She could not speak English (literally) and she was from Korea. Yet, Friedman took this into account and dropped a quiz and curved the homework. Friedman is EXTREMELY approachable and is very nice. If you have any questions or just need to talk to him about the TA (like I did), he is easily available. I took Calculus in High School so the class required little to no work on my part. I did have to do the homework but overall, this class was an easy A. TAKE FRIEDMAN! You will not regret it.

IF YOU ARE A SLACKER...LIKE ME, YOU DEFINATELY WANT TO TAKE THIS CLASS! Granted I never learned anything, I got an easy A without ever going to lecture. I just went to the TA session to turn in homework and then I left. If you don't make an A in this class you should probably have your head examined.
