this old man uses transparances to teach math. i know its unheard of but he makes the class so easy that it works. he does not go over theory just practice problems. if you want an easy A and/or don't care about math take durbin. if you want to learn the material and the theory behind it take someone else. he has 5 tests including the final, i which one can be dropped (yes, this means you dotn have to take the final). each test is worth 22.5% and hw is due EVERY CLASS day is worth 10%. discussion is usually unnessisary but the TA did basically do the hw for you if you went.

The material is very difficult-there's no way of getting around that. But Durbin's tests are very easy. They skim the surface of the material you learned. There is not a mandatory final. If you want to make up 1 or 2 of the 4 tests you take over the course of the semester, that will act as the final and replace the old test grades. Durbin is a kind old man-a nice grandfather type. He is funny in a very dry way. Class examples are pretty minimal-expect to reference the book to actually understand the material. He has pre-made lecture notes, so all you do during class is copy these. Take him if you can-the course could be much harder, but he makes it easy.
