The reading for this class is excruciatingly boring and not helped by the insanely boring lectures. The TA I had was cool and made discussion bearable. Carton makes good insights into the readings and presents his lectures in a ..... different way, but it is just very dry and boring. As far as difficulty is concerned: the class isn't too hard. It seems much easier than it is. The grading is tough, but the material isn't. Read the stuff, go to your discussions and you'll be fine.

So boring. If you do the readings and listen in class you will easily get an A but good luck with that. The readings are painfully boring and his lectures put you to sleep. I would highly recommend not taking this class unless you are an english major but unfortunately it is a basic requirement. Don't know if any other professors are better but E316K with Carton was awful

Carton was a fantastic professor in this small class. I grew immensely as a writer that semester and could tell he was invested in his student's development as readers and writers.
