Terrible lectures that do not clearly present the material. Tests are not bad if you understood what he was rambling about in the lectures. This could be a very good course, the material is not difficult but Becker makes it terribly difficult. Avoid like the plague unless you already know the material.

Becker is a likeable old man, who's very approachable, and reasonable to deal with. His lectures are not the most useful things, but he posts very good notes on the web, and the book is not bad. The material is fairly straightforward, and the tests are as well. With a good TA the 121l sessions are invaluable. It's an important course, so learn it well.
