not a bad guy. he kind of has an attitude at times but he enjoys teaching. i can't really say anything bad about him as a person, but his class is not easy. the tests were not too bad as long as you did, and understood the homeworks... if there is ever a killed problem in the homework then it is likely that it will show up on a test. the big killer in this class is the homework. it is all done on the computer, and because of software problems it has to be done in the wrw building computer lab (for some reason it just does not work on other computers, but maybe by the time you take the class it will be different). anyhow regardless of whether the homework is done at the lab or somewhere else it is not easy at all. since it is a computer program the answers have to be exact, signs and all. so in order to get a good grade on the homework you will spend countless hours in the computer lab figuring out problems. my advice is find a good study buddy, or 2, or 10... the software is forgiving in the sense that you can start over from the beginning with new numbers and have no point penalty, but even with that handicap the homeworks are freaking hard and time consuming because it takes forever to go back and retrace your steps. i will suggest taking this class with fowler because everyone seems to love him and he teaches this class more realistically because statics is not the most interesting stuff... it's just too static... if you don't like homework then take fowler, i hear his class is much easier, and his tests are a breeze compared to dr. huang. you will probably be forced to learn more in dr. huangs class though because your grade depends on you knowing this stuff well. he does curve according to the grade distribution in the class though, so that's a plus, but you will definitely end up with a better chance of an A in fowler. his lectures are not bad though. well organized and helpful, but you must participate to get what you want out of this class. overall the class was not terribly difficult but it was definitely not easy. i felt like this should have been easier than it was... this stuff is much easier conceptually than physics or calculus, but you will still spend a lot of time on it if you take this prof.

His tests are pretty hard and No partial credit. The grading for his homeworks and exams is INSANE. His lectures are pretty decent. You can teach yourself from the book which is what most people are doing for this course. Take someone else if you can.
