Review from a student who took LIN 306
Woodbury is an excellent professor. He gives easy homework due every Friday, easy tests with a review beforehand and he doesnt require you to take the final if you have an A. He's got a quirky sense of humor which keeps the lectures interesting. Definitely take LIN 306 with him.

As the department head, he really knows his stuff. If you do the homework assignments then you'll ace his exams, and he does not require a final from those with A averages. He enjoys teaching the material, and class participation will get him to notice you.

Prof Woodbury likes to give pop quizes, so it's really important to do the extra readings he assigns. I only skimmed the textbook after the first few weeks and it was fine, he goes over everything you need to know in class. Woodbury's lectures can sometimes be dry, but he's very friendly and is happy to meet with students in office hours. He also assembles thorough reviews for the tests (I used those to study the night before and made close to 100s on every test). It's obvious that Prof Woodbury loves what he's teaching. Over all, I'd say Woodbury's LIN306 class was not a bad way to fill the generic social science requirement.
