Uribe is an awesome professor with a unique perspective. As a former legislator (Texas state rep, then state senator) he speaks from the point of view of the legislator, rather than the observer, the perspective most professors provide. His political connections allow him to bring in current and former state legislators and provide real-time case studies. MAS 374/GOV 335N is the perfect class to take if you are or have recently worked at the Capitol, as some knowledge of how state government works is expected. It is definitely an intermediate level course, but GOV 312 does prepare one sufficiently. If you're interested in state politics, this is your class - take Uribe.
