Worst professor I have ever had at UT and I am a senior Biochem major. Don't bother going to his office hours because he will just be sarcastic and unhelpful. The only thing talking to him will accomplish is belittling yourself. I started his course thinking that it will be easy since there were no tests and only online homeworks and problem sets with a major project at the end. DO NOT be fooled. The problem sets are very hard and he does not provide any help in his lectures. The class itself it basically a waste of time and he is often gone, having guest lecturers who speak on random topics in his place. The class is done on Python and he does not ever teach Python. Basically, if you have no experience in Python or coding before you take this class you're screwed. My whole class is lost and has resorted to the internet for help with coding. Three-fourths of the way into the semester, he goes through your online coding homeworks and takes points off of your FINAL LETTER GRADE if you got any of your code off of the internet. Be careful and avoid this professor at all costs!

The quality of the class material is outstanding and clearly superior to that of equivalent classes in other universities. The psets are very useful to understand the content better and the project focus of the class is a nice approach to how discoveries are actually made in real life. Really fun guy with whom you can get to talk about anything. Best faculty of the department.
