Review from a student who took PSY 418
Overall, this class is okay; it's pretty boring, but it's required so you have to take it from someone. Dr. Josephs is a nice guy, not the best lecturer but he makes it easier by letting you use your notes and equations on tests. There are also lots of opportunities for bonus points. The only bad thing is there are quizzes once a week, and they make up 40% of your grade overall, so you really can't miss class very often. There is also a big group research project, which is fairly time consuming. But in the end, it's not a bad class.

This guy is horrible. I slacked a little and i know i didnt deserve an A but i did work my ass off most of the time and have little to show for it. he gives no effort to encourage or help you along in this class. He splits the psych and stats of the class apart between him and the TA and refuses to help you with the others topic. (ie you have to talk to ta only about stats and josephs only about psych). he curses at you (not jokingly) and my class actually had to report him to the dean because half way through, the entire class recieved failing notices. hes very rude and rather out of date. hes only in town 4 days a week (he lives in houston) and so you only have 1 hour a week for his office hours. the quizes are over random stuff and its all or nothing, no partial credit. I highly recomend Prof Stotes i ended up taking it again with her and she actually devotes time to her students and is interested in their progress. Shes a saint compared to josephs. this class is a major hassle and it basically not worth it... DONT TORTURE YOURSELF!
