Course workload average--daily homework due. Straight lecture style, don't need the book...lecture notes are comprehensive One midterm, one final. Great at one on one help with questions or homework. Disorganized frequently. Hard to track progress because prof doesn't hand back hw grades in a timely manner. Does not give answers to test reviews. Expects you to know them already. Sends out emails about the hw, but fails to send them out in a timely manner.

This class is manageable for the most part. He sounds like the parrot from Aladdin and always seems to have a diet coke in his hand. His favorite analogies involve sports or sandwiches. The tests are pretty much like the HW so if you can do the HW then the test should be pretty simple. I highly recommend you go to the SI sessions weekly. They will help you in the long run on his exams. His exams as I said earlier reflect the HW and practice exams. Those will be the key to making a B. An A in this class is very hard to come by unless you really have a passion for economics.

Hickenbottom is a tough professor, and demands too much for an intro level class. Plan to not have a social life if you want to get an A. Even if you did give up socializing for the sake of making it through this course, getting an A would be highly unlikely. His tests and homework assignments consists of trick questions that are set up to confuse you with phrases like "could be" and "maybe" or "must be." Oh, and he makes his test far too long to complete in 50 minutes. He also has these awful Iclicker questions. Unless you're a hardcore math wiz that just LOVES economics, I would avoid taking this course.
