Awesome teacher! Take him by all means possible. I took his freshman seminar in Fall 2004, and it was my favourite class. Just keep up with the readings, and you'll enjoy the class. Fair grader as well. Take him!

dr falola is an extremely nice and funny man. i enjoyed his lectures because he likes to throw in little jokes about himself and others. he makes a huge effort to get to know people in class and incorporate everyone's views into lecture. the downside to him is that his lectures are a bit unorganized and scattered. you may find yourself taking random notes because he usually doesn't give you an outline but sometimes does (and this is usually done verbally). however, as long as you go to class and take decent notes (he always gives a better outline to major topics) and do all the readings and the review questions as the class progresses (you are usually assigned a chapter that is between 20-30 pages each class time) you should do fine. the readings are easy and it helps sooo much to keep on top of them and the questions because the test questions are taken straight from the review questions at the end of each chapter. the review for the test consisted of questions from the readings that were chosen by a "test committee" which were 3 students who volunteered to choose the best questions from each chapter. his TA this semester was matt, he is a fair grader and very helpful during office hours. i didn't do that much work for this class and i made an A. there are 2 book reviews (20% each) over books that dr. falola wrote, a midterm and a final (25% each) and attendance is 10% taken randomly throughout the semester. be prepared to pay quite a bit for the books, there are 2 textbooks and then the 2 books you have to write reviews on. and the books u need for the papers are only worth about $2.50 at the end of the semester at the Co-op when you really buy them for $30 each. overall, i enjoyed dr. falola and his class. make sure to keep up with the readings and the questions (they're easy) and let the TA review your papers if you aren't sure if you are on topic and you should get an A!
