Review from a student who took ART 322K
This was the most mind-numbing class I think I've ever experienced. I can honestly say I didn't learn a thing from the teacher. She's a nice gal, don't get me wrong, but plays favorites hardcore! She also thinks very simple and over-done things are brilliant! So if you like being the teacher's pet, this might be your gig! As far as lecture, the broad was only in class about 1/2 the time (give or take on random days) and once left class to walk her dog, even. I don't think this is what teachers should be doing, I thought we paid them thousands of dollars to teach, not walk their fckin dog. So my take on this teacher is, well she's a nice lady and can be helpful if you pin her down and ask her opinion on something, other than that, be prepared to hear all about random gallery openings and how fabulous "Chicago" is all day long. Anyway, the work load wasnt extravagant, but toward the end of the semester, the whole abstract drawing concept made me want to scratch my eyes out with an x-acto knife. So, if you like to insert yourself into a teacher's ass, this may be the gig for you! Send me a post card while you're up there! PS If you want to do nonabstract, i seriously suggest Melissa Millers "works on paper" class or the life drawing classes.
