Dr. Bard is not what I would call a charismatic person (you're lucky if he raises his voice beyond monotone). The class can get quite annoying, he requires a discussion with his class which is absolutely worthless and time consuming. His tests are not too bad, but the final is 40%.

One of the most boring classes I have ever taken at UT. Dr. Bard talks with a monotoned voice which puts you to sleep in class. One time I looked back, an entire row was out cold. Usually, less than 20% of people show up for his class anyways. The subject isn?t very hard, but he can?t convey the information very well. The book is written by him and is full of errors. In fact, he has a page on his website dedicate to book errors. The tests are not hard, but weird. He pulls stuff that we have never done in class. Don?t expect help from him or the proctors on tests, because the tests state ?no help for the proctors.? All you can do is write down your assumptions and pray to the devil that your assumptions are right. His grading is very generous though. I have gotten almost full credit on a lot of problems that I completely B.S.ed ( and that doesn?t not stand for Bachelor of Science). The homework and group work counts for 5% each. Don?t worry, you will get most of it, especially toward the end of the semester. At the beginning of the semester, the TA actually looked at the HW and group work. I think it?s because of the error-latent solutions and lack of instructions prior to the group activities that the TA stopped caring toward the end of the semester. My group and I have turned in complete B.S. that we knew was totally wrong (how do we know, because we didn?t answer all the questions) and received full credit on them. The key to success in his class is just stop caring and asuume stuff. I got me an A.
