Review from a student who took GEO 302P
I took Living with the Planet from Dr. Banner and I hated it. First of all, he plays mind games with the students and tries to make a "point" by screwing with our grades (ie - negative extra credit). Second there are a ridiculous number of assignments (multiple 1 page papers, worksheets, a 2 page paper, a 4 page paper, and two presentations) for a non-science majors class. Overall, the class seemed very preachy and the workload was excessive for the class. Unless you have no clue about the planet but for some odd reason really want to learn about environmental issues, steer clear of this class.

Dr. Banner is an awesome professor. He is very animated and makes the class fun. There is plenty of work to do and the lab section was hard, but it was a good class. He gives tons of extra credit opportunities too.

There's lots of assignments in the lab portion of this class, but most of them are really easy. Also, you don't need to read anything from the textbook. The tests are only over things gone over in lecture. The class is easy, and the material is easy but the tests are more specific than one would expect. During my semester, lectures were video recorded and posted online, but that may not be the case in the future. There's a whole lot of silly stuff that goes on: We got to watch Finding Nemo one day, we listen to music all the time, the demos he does in class are always pretty goofy. It's a fun class to be in, but you just need to study for the tests.
