Professor profile for Margaret Briley
Student reviews of Margaret Briley
Review from a student who took NTR324
I had a very rough semester due to personal issues during spring of 2012. I was taking this course during the time and Professor Briley has helped me tremendously with writing in scientific language. I am horrible with English but for some reason, this class was extremely interesting. I wish I took this course earlier in my freshman and sophomore year because I would have liked to have spent more time researching and probably would have changed my major. She is by far one of the best professors I have come across. She is very kind and extremely helpful. The workload, in my opinion, was pretty heavy. Obviously, because this was not only a writing course but a research course as well. There were no exams. This is the first professor that required mandatory office hours, which was the best experience i've had and wished I have attended more office hours in my early semesters. Office hours are VERY USEFUL and she showed that through the mandatory office hours. At the end of the semester, I have finished writing a research paper that was really long, but gave me a feeling of great accomplishment and pride. English isn't my thing but this class has changed me in a way where I am extremely in love with the process of research and writing in scientific language. I was very fortunate to enroll in a class taught by Professor Briley. If you're a nutrition major and ever wanted to take a research and writing component course together, I highly recommend her.
