Professor Dahlby was my first journalism professor so I was actually really nervous because I didn't know what to expect. However, Dahlby is now one of the greatest teachers I've ever had because he has so much knowledge and experience in the field. Professor Dahlby has a voice like Morgan Freeman that soothes you into his teachings. His voice booms and really grabs your attention. His lectures are very interesting and one of the greatest things he does is bringing in all sorts of amazing and awesome guest speakers to the class. We got people like Lara Logan from CBS 60 minutes, Katie Friel (editor in chief) in Austin's TRIBEZA magazine, and even recent film director Alex Gibney through skype with the class. Professor Dahlby has connections to almost anyone in the journalism field and also to journalism professors in the Moody college. He also is very lenient on grades and his tests are all multiple choice questions about 30-40 questions. Pretty easy to get an A in the class if you attend class, focus during lectures, and do the homework. Basically, don't take advantage of what he has to offer because you'll really regret it and miss out. There are a lot of readings, but really just focus on the BLUR book and you'll be fine. Overall awesome professor and he really really likes it when students come in during his office hours!! Go and listen to his valuable life stories of being a foreign correspondent and I'm sure you'll find something to be worth your time and effort.
