Review from a student who took MUS 376J and MUS 688A
I have taken two theory courses with Dr. Drott, both the 20th Century Techniques course and Analytical Techniques (theory course focused on form in the Classical period). I have a difficult time grasping theory concepts quickly, but Dr. Drott explains concepts very thoroughly. I have never felt unprepared for a test, and I am much more confident in my ability to parse out a piece of music by myself. He always has an entertaining analogy to throw out and keep things interesting, as well. Highly recommend him as an instructor, especially if you struggle with music theory.
