Professor profile for Marcel Widzisz
Student reviews of Marcel Widzisz
Review from a student who took CC 303
Professor Widzisz is a great professor. He is entertaining, extremely approachable, understanding and fair. He tests based on lectures; there are no curve balls. Everything is explained thoroughly but not dumbed down, and his lectures do a great job of filling in holes or rough spots in the text. I only have two complaints: at times, especially when it comes to material in which he is especially interested (like the Oresteia, on which he wrote his dissertation), he sometimes goes off on tangents and delves too deep into multi-layered interpretations. But this is only a minor distraction and hardly takes away from the overall lecture quality. Some of his questions are either subjective or are nowhere is lectures or reading; but this is very rare, I only came across it once. If you shoot him an email he responds that day and stays several minutes after class to take everyone's questions. He also gives ample opportunity for an A; two of the 7 ("pop") quizzes are dropped, and there is an optional extra credit paper at the end of the course. Workload is average to light but I learned a lot; A+ professor.
