This class is definitely worth taking your first semester. It provides a good buffer for you to help boost your GPA. It basically consists of doing a bunch of essays (about 8) on various topics including drugs, articles, and one open-ended one. They're basically graded on effort and as long as it looks like you tried to do a good job, you'll get an A in the class. The professor is a cool guy, who is pretty funny and nice. The class is very small (my class had about 16 people) so if you're not there, it will be noticed but you really don't ever feel like skipping this class because it's never a strain or a hassle. The only problem with this class is that the title "Medicinal Chemistry" is not really accurate. The class is more of a Pharmacy class than a class about Medicine or Chemistry.

Haha, I think freshman seminar was my favorite class during my first semester at UT just because it was the funniest class ever. Dr. Whitman was a very funny guy, and he made the class fun with his witty and sharp comments. I highly enjoyed myself. And it was just a great time to relax and stuff, so I would highly recommending taking Dr. Whitman for freshman seminar.
