Review from a student who took ALD 322
At first, this class seems like it's going to be a lot of work. You have to do a Service Learning Project, where you volunteer with kids for at least 15 hours and then write a 2-3 page paper on it. You have to read a book about an "individual with differences" and then write a report on it. You have to do a big group project and presentation that she gives you the whole semester to do. But really, this class takes some effort, but not a whole lot. Her lectures are from pre-made powerpoint slides, which are always available for printout on TeachNet, an application that all the ALD classes use for sending messages and files. The tests are fairly easy if you look over the textbook example questions, chapter summaries, and lecture notes. It may seem like a lot of information to remember, but she doesn't require memorization of specific numbers and details. There are also a couple of short essays on the exams, but she always gives out the essay topics so that we can look them up. The reading load is moderately high, but it's not imperative that everything be read to do well. Overall, a pretty easy class.
